Getting Chilly

Villagers now seek out fires and warm indoor spaces when the cold starts to catch up with them.

Villagers can now get chilly. As now the temperature drops in the autumn and winter, they need to find ways to stay warm.

A fire near a workplace can give someone a chance to warm up before getting back to what they were doing. It makes a cold day more than a visual change, it will be a difficult day for the villager to work fully effectively. Most likely they will spend time warming up.

Finding Warmth

Indoor spaces and fireplaces are useful places to escape the cold, too. The Hearth is an especially natural spot: it is already a place for villagers to gather, and now its fire is useful when they need warmth as well.

This adds another small consideration to village life. Fires and warm buildings are no longer only decoration; they are places villagers can use to look after themselves and their families when the weather turns. This also adds more functionality to the furniture in the game, and of course adds a use for wood and fuel as limited resources.

Overall, the introduction of cold weather and the need for warmth adds a new layer of strategy and realism to village life, encouraging players to think about how their villagers will cope with the changing seasons.
